A reproduction Indiana State Police badge series has surfaced on the collectors market. The badge can be easily detected if you have the BADGE GUIDE, as details of the current ISP badge are described and pictured.

The reproduction currently being offered to collectors has opening below the number panel, and the number panel is lacking the "shield" outline in black around the number. The badge is of poor quality, and should not be considered as "department issue."

Any collector encountering this badge is requested to forward us a photo so we can post it here on the ALERTS site. Beware of this reproduction. The current state contract holder for Indiana is the CD Dyer Company. The current ISP issue badge has the number engraved in BLOCK style font. Only the older badges have the stamped ROMAN style numbers.

Remember, the ISP badge is an officially copyrighted die, and the department is very protective of the badge. I’m wondering as this entry is made, if the reproduction mentioned above is from a far east manufacturer.
