William Mauldin Productions, Inc.

Our History

Bill Mauldin, the primary voice of William Mauldin Productions, Inc., started in broadcasting at the early age of 14 at an ABC affiliate, WCOG, in Greensboro, North Carolina, as a teen DJ with an afternoon radio program. He was so successful that the following year, the station added the duties of co-host of a live stage show, Circle K, produced by the well-known musician, Howard Waynick. Circle K was the rage for kids in and around Greensboro, and the hour long stage show quickly became the normal activity for hundreds of Triad Carolina youngsters. Bill and co-host Dave Wright kept the kids entertained and the successful show ran for many years at the historic Carolina Theater in downtown Greensboro.

Bill was the commercial announcer on the ABC Network program, Joe Emerson’s Hymn Time, a daily 15 minute show that originated from WCOG by the time he was 17. As his unique voice was heard nationwide on the ABC Radio Network, he received many letters of encouragement from such famous announcers as Eddie Gallager at WTOP in Washington and many others.

In time, Bill’s experience included staff announcing jobs at other radio stations including WBIG, WGBG, WPET, and WFMY. After high school, he graduated from a special scholarship program offered by the Radio Institute at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

William Mauldin Productions, Inc. was founded in 1982 in Boca Raton, Florida, and while there, the company produced and Bill narrated many commercials and training aids. National Airlines, Pan American World Airways, Lincoln Mercury, Dolly Madison Bakeries, Fidelifax, and Martha White Flour were just a few of the many customers.

By the late 1980's, William Mauldin Productions had an announcing staff of six announcers, all hand-picked by Bill during his travels around the country. The staff produced many station IDs and program promotions for radio stations nationwide.

William Mauldin Productions, Inc. operated as a Florida company until 1991, when the studios were moved to North Carolina and then to southwest Virginia, where the company branched into documentary television. In 2000, William Mauldin Productions, Inc. closed the television division, and the new all Creative Audio Concepts Division was born.

Today, William Mauldin Productions, Inc. is a state-of-the-art sound production company where radio commercial production, station identifications, and political commercials are the primary products of today. Bill Mauldin, President and owner of the company, has returned to the voice-over microphone. In addition to being a well known radio voice for half a century, Bill is also a writer and producer. His latest book, STATE TROOPERS OF AMERICA, can be found on amazon.com.
